Half Moon Hill A Destiny Novel Destiny series Toni Blake 9780062024626 Books
Half Moon Hill is the 6th book in the Destiny Series by Toni Blake. I keep thinking, every time I read a Destiny book, "this one is my favorite!" Then I read the next one and feel the same way again, it's wonderful!Anna Romo is the long lost sister of the Romo clan who feels quite out of place after returning to Destiny at first. After buying an old Victorian mansion, making friends, and bonding with her family, she begins to enjoy the quaint town. The only glitch is that she has become a bit of a loner. Enter Duke who turns her world upside down!
Duke Dawson is a big sexy biker man living in a cabin in Anna's woods to escape the trauma and emotional turmoil going on in his life until he figures out a plan. When Anna and Duke stumble upon each other in the woods, it leads to a deal that Duke will help fix up Anna's house to get it ready for her bed and breakfast business. At first, Anna is appalled by Duke's appearance, but, nonetheless interested of that makes sense, and let's just say he cleans up nice and they share many sizzling hot moments together!
Together, Anna and Duke deal with the ability to trust, to live life and extend oneself, take chances. I love how each book includes all the wonderful characters and relationships I've come to adore from this series; additionally, how each book features a new cat! Destiny is addicting and lovable and just the ticket to a satisfying small town romance!

I like the book. The story is nice and long with twists and turns, of course as a romance we know the outcome will be certain. But that is a big part of the romance genre, so those of us who read it, like it. ;-)
Love all of the Destiny stories. Especially Willow Springs but this really got to me - two outsiders comforting each other. Anna Romo coming back to the town she lived in many years ago, and Duke Dawson hiding out after experiencing a horrific crash. Anna is falling for Duke but he feels like he's not good enough for her. He decides to leave and Anna is heartbroken. Loved this story, love the town of Destiny!
I highly recommend this book. Anna and Duke are the main characters in the book although characters from previous books in the series are in it also. Duke is a hot tatooed guy that rides a Harley and years ago was in a MC. I find myself liking this type of guy a lot. He and Anna both have a lot of issues they work through before they have their HEA. This was one of my favorites in the series.
I actually found this author by looking for free kindle books, and i have been totally hooked since then...this is the last (or now) in the Destiny series...and what an awesome book it is...it is a stand alone book but even better when you start from book 1 where we meet everyone and fall in love with the characters. We follow their lives share their loves and sorrows...please do yourself a favor...even if you dont read this book read something from Toni...you'll fall in love with her writing also
I read this book in one sitting. Well worth your time and money. The characters are very real. We all pick on our own faults rather than believing in our many great characteristics. The moral of the story is to let go and experience life so you don't look back and say -what if. No one has the answers to life. We need to just put one foot in front of the other and experience all the wonders of really living. Great story
This was my least favorite in the series and I was looking forward to this one. When I saw that this book was going to be Anna's, I couldn't wait to read it. I actually liked Anna in Willow Springs. She spoke her mind and went after what she wanted. I thought it was unfair that Logan had to pick between beautiful, strong Anna and whiny, selfish Amy though. I was not expecting the H to be Duke. Huh? I didn't like Duke. His character was a little wishy-washy to me. He didn't seem like someone Anna would fall for. I didn't believe his sudden epiphany about being in love with Anna either. I just had a hard time with Duke and Anna. I didn't like them together and the chemistry was just so-so. I ended up not really liking Anna all that much either. She wasn't like the Anna in the last book and that was what I was expecting. There wasn't a whole lot of dialogue in this book either. There was way too much inner dialogue though. That got on my nerves. The only reason that I was teetering on 2.5 to 3 stars, is because of the secondary stories. I liked the Cathy story. I liked the Mike and Rachel story too. I'm really hoping that this isn't the book that ends the series.
I bought this because I REALLY enjoyed Toni Blake's other Destiny novel, "One Reckless Summer" that tells us the story of Mick and Jenny. Very real, very emotional with plenty of heat and you really cared about both the hero and heroine. Here In Half Moon HIll, I really wanted to enjoy this couple, Anna a Duke the biker dude who I did like together, BUT I felt I never got a real chance to! They have quick encounters, a smidge of dialogue and then we're off to each character having a super long monologue discussion with her/himself about their reactions and thoughts to said exchange. CONSTANTLY!!! And SO we barely get enough long meaningful exchanges and experiences between the two (oh we're told about them here and there) so that I did not get a complete picture of these two-- to experience them as the reader. I don't want to be told about it. It just got so very tedious and kept on in this vein. And they are quite likable and I liked them together but I felt cheated!
Then a heck of a lot of attention is given to a diary of a lovelorn teen our heroine finds in the attic and reads and we read it along with her. Not that interesting! I wanted more Duke and Anna, not Cathy and Robert!!! I found this really annoying and distracting.
And although there was a great backstory here to Duke's pain it was not used to its fullest. (See Mick in Reckless Summer!!) ANd then it all gets wrapped up pretty darned quickly. A nice read, but I did not find it satisfying at all. Sorry!
