The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes is a collection of twelve short stories by Arthur Conan Doyle, featuring his fictional detective Sherlock Holmes. It was first published on 14 October 1892; the individual stories had been serialised in The Strand Magazine between June 1891 and July 1892. The stories are not in chronological order, and the only characters common to all twelve are Holmes and Dr. Watson. The stories are related in first-person narrative from Watson's point of view.
In general the stories in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes identify, and try to correct, social injustices. Holmes is portrayed as offering a new, fairer sense of justice. The stories were well received, and boosted the subscriptions figures of The Strand Magazine, prompting Doyle to be able to demand more money for his next set of stories. The first story, "A Scandal in Bohemia", includes the character of Irene Adler, who, despite being featured only within this one story by Doyle, is a prominent character in modern Sherlock Holmes adaptations, generally as a love interest for Holmes. Doyle included four of the twelve stories from this collection in his twelve favourite Sherlock Holmes stories, picking "The Adventure of the Speckled Band" as his overall favourite

I've read & re-read all the Sherlock Holmes mysteries, & have enjoyed each reading as if it was the first time. The stories give you a sense of being there, & a taste of late 19th century life, yet they are written in a way that the modern person can appreciate.If you like Holmes logic, & Dr. Watson’s telling of their adventures, I highly recommend you sit back, get comfortable, & have an adventure yourself!

I loved the new Masterpiece Mystery "Sherlock" and decided to read all the stories. Apparently, Benedict Cumberbatch is so good in the series that the only books left in my public library were 10-lb. Complete editions. I checked on out but the book was so cumbersome and the font size so small that I gave up. For $.99 I got the version and it was great!
Intriguing mysteries are timeless. I enjoyed the history and intrigue. History buffs and mystery buffs will both love this book
Genius. Number two in my favorites. Christie is number one.
Always have and will always love to read Sherlock Holmes
Though it's been over 40 years since I've read these stories, they are as enchanting today as they were when I was in high school. Wonderfully written, I look forward to reading the rest of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's works.
This was my first download on my . I hope all the rest are as satisfying.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It is well written and captivating. The pictures dispersed throughout made it even more enjoyable. The descriptions of Holmes bring him to life and the relationship between Holmes and Watson is a little better understood. I enjoyed reading of Holmes brother and the sense of past sibling rivalry. All in all, this book gives a more rounded view of Holmes.
I already have two hardcover complete and unabridged Sherlock Holmes books. I've never been able to comfortably take them with me (being that they're very large and thick), but this Kindly version is beyond great. Now I get my Sherlock fix anywhere, anytime.
